Best electric bike I tried thus far
Excellent electric bike. The pedal assist kicks in very smoothly. It has 9 levels. The battery lasts as per the level assist used. I used it for a month now, commuting to work, 32 miles each day. I feel I got the exercise, but also don't get exhausted by the end of the day thanks to the assist. The battery would be all drained out by the end of the day, so have to keep recharging it every night. Among all the other ebikes I tried, this is the one with the smoothest functioning of the electric motor, how it kicks in, how it stops the assist when we stop pedaling, how we can easily control the assist level in a granular way using thumb. And it is easily the best looking e-bike I have seen. People don't realize it is an e-bike unless told so. The batteries are hidden in the frame tube. At Costco price, this is a steal when compared with other similar quality ebikes. Cons : 1) Quite bulky when compared to normal bikes - need to get used to it. Though all e-bikes have similar weight 2) The frame is 1 size - more like an L in traditional bike sizes. I feel a little stretched for my size ( 5'10''). I normally use a medium sized bike. I wish they had more sizes. 3) Though the max speed is advertised as 20 mph, it is hard to reach / maintain. Can't find any other cons. I wish the speed was mire like 28 mph / 30 mph and the range - 50 miles. That would make it a very real mode of transport.
The future of fair weather transportation
Everything I’d hoped for and more. Smooth, silent and strong. A bit on the heavy side when toting up the stairs. Couldn’t find the serial number to register. A pleasure to flow over the country side, almost without effort. Highly recommended
Great bike!
I bought this bike because my friend liked his ebike so much. I rode with him for a year on my mountain bike and found that I was getting worn out while he was moving right along enjoying the rides. Anyway, I bought this bike and I really enjoy it... a lot! Riding is fun and with an ebike you can enjoy longer rides and go to more places. Just saying... I'm 64 years old, so not able to do what the young guys can do.
Exactly what I expected
Pros: The bike rides great and makes my biking commute easy. The electric assist is versatile and strong when I need it to be, easily helping me make lights send get up hills that I don't want to power through. I use the electric assist fairly minimally so a charge will last me 2 weeks easily. It looks great, and shifts smoothly through gears while riding. Cons: Heavier than other bikes, but you have to expect that considering all the tech they've packed into the surprisingly slim body. It doesn't come with the gears "tuned" since you assemble it yoursel, I had to adjust the gears myself so get them shifting smoothly. BUT it was very easy to do because the bike is built well. Or you could always take it to a bike shop and have them do this for next to nothing.
Great bike
I bought this bike for my wife who is loving it. The peddle assist makes it easy for her to get up the hills. When we go riding, she rides circles around me when we are going up hill. Her knees are not very strong and she could not keep up with me if she did not have the pedal assist but now we can ride together. The bike is pretty heavy, even for a mountain bike. I think it's about 43lbs, my old mountain bike is 42lbs so with a similar gear ratio I can ride it without the peddle assist. The only think I did not like about it is the handle bar grips. The the bar was a little too far away and the grips are a little smaller than what I'm used to. So I went to the bike shop and bought an adjustable goose neck to bring the bar up and back. I also added a few other accessories like a bottle cage, an adjustable cargo rack for the back of the bike. Because my wife doesn't always use the peddle assist, she has never run the battery down to empty. She has put about 150 miles on the bike so far but she has only done about 23 miles in a single day. Maybe as she gets in better shape we might reach the full charge distance of 35 miles. One other complaint was the seat is not very comfortable so I bought her a memory foam seat cushion so that she could do the longer rides.
