Don't believe everything you read
I have just read some of the negative reviews for the Jetson mountain bike, and I can't believe that we are talking about the same bike. I purchased my bike for a discounted price because the packaging was damaged in shipping and a few minor parts were lost. Totally not Jetsons fault. But when I contacted Jetson, I was truly impressed with how helpful they were. Way above and beyond what I expected. Because my bike came without a manual, I had more than my share of questions and they were patient and thorough and even called back to follow up. As to the guy who said that the frame was weak compared with motorcycles.......really? It's even flimsier when you compare it to a John Deere tractor. The frame is fine, and I would be very surprised if the type of buyer who wants an assisted bike would be the type to go out for super aggressive off roading. And the he guy who say it doesn't have the power to pull his 180 pounds weight around.... where are you trying to ride this, on the freeway? I weigh 50 pounds more than him and live in a very hilly part of Kentucky and I keep the assist set to the lowest level. I love this bike. It's a little heavier than I would like but I knew that when I bought it. The only minor complaint I have is that sometimes I wish I could dial down the assist even a little more. But when I want more of a workout I just shut the assist off for a few miles. This is a great bike and I'm considering getting a second Jetson for my wife.
Pretty Goodbut could use some improvement
So overall, this bike is great for street riding. Off road, if you ride this, you will crash for sure and most likely damage the bike. Reason is, the frame is joke. If you come into a turn hot, this bike is a hot mess. The frame flexes all over the place and literally gets speed whobbles big time. It is very unstable because of the geometric design. I am not a serious mountain biker, but I am a serious off road motocyclist and got this to help me train during the off days. The power is weak...500w is not bad, but I weigh 180 so that doesnt help. If you weigh that or more, do not expect power. However, on the street, the bike is fun. I have more fun carving out bike paths through residential areas on this then I do off road. Also, do not get this thing wet, it will fry it. Not that it happened, but I have read that several time-- another reason to be careful off-road. Also, the seat height is crazy hi, and there is no way to adjust it down. it sits at about 36 inches; I am 5'10 and I have to tippy toe it. Also, the cable that goes from the battery to the motor is a plug that meets about halfway down the frame-- that can come apart and then the bike stops. Make sure you keep an eye on that. It is fun for sure. had mine for 10 months and I have had tons of fun. Overall you may be able to find other bikes that have a higher wattage motor, which means more power, for less. It is priced hi for it's class.....but it is nice because it looks like a mountain bike and people dont know you are electric when you ride by. Even better if you want to poach hiking trails.
I purchased a Jetson mountain bike. Took me about 15 minutes to put together. At first batteries would not charge. I took the batteries off , put them back on, turned off the key and they then charged completely. This is hands down the best e mountain bike around. Runs great and people are constantly complimenting me . I feel like a Rock Star on this bike.
